This is Foundation Part 1, the first Rescue Our Climate podcast. It lays out some of the foundation of climate change and why it needs to be stopped ASAP. Speakers include climate scientist James Hansen, who describes the fundamental premise, which is that we need to hold climate change to ONE DEGREE, not two degrees. Two degrees would prove calamatous to earth’s systems and wildlife, and even less than one degree warming has already lead to massive changes in our world.
Other clips are from the Thom Hartmann show, Bernie Sanders, Paul Beckwith, Jennifer Francis, and scientists from the Climate Cast from MN public radio.
Rescue Our Climate will contain stories about climate change as well as solutions we can all participate in, in each episode.
Dr. Jennifer Francis:
2014 will be remembered for the range of weather extremes persistent storms that battered the country at the beginning of the year, to record high temperatures at the end of October. Scientists now have evidence that these persistent extreme weather patterns are increasing in their frequency, due to the rapid heating up of the Arctic that is changing the behaviour of the jet stream.
